Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 8s Gen 3: On-Device AI, 200MP Camera Support, and More!

  1. Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 as a lite version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, aiming to bring flagship-level features to midrange smartphones.




  4. Processor Architecture: The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is built on a 4nm process and features a 1+4+3 core configuration, with one Prime core (Cortex-X4) clocked at 3.0 GHz, four Performance cores (2.8 GHz), and three Efficiency cores (2.0 GHz).




  7. AI Capabilities: It supports on-device generative AI with up to 10 billion parameters, enabling features like generative AI assistants, on-device image generation, and enhanced camera experiences. It supports over 30 large language models (LLMs) and large vision models (LVMs) at launch, including Gemini Nano, Llama 2, and Baichuan-7B.




  10. Camera and Imaging: The chipset allows smartphones to capture images at up to 200-megapixel resolution and features a triple 18-bit ISP setup. It supports AI-based face detection and Qualcomm's Snapdragon Low Light Vision (LLV) technology for improved low-light video capture.




  13. Connectivity: The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 supports 5G connectivity with the Snapdragon X70 5G Modem-RF system and Dual-Sim Dual Active (DSDA) support. It offers download speeds of up to 5Gbps over Wi-Fi 7 networks and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.




  16. Availability and Partnerships: Major Android OEMs like Honor, iQOO, Realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi are confirmed to launch smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The first devices are expected to be available in the market in the coming months.




  19. Comparison with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: While the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 shares some flagship features with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it is positioned for smartphones in the $500 to $800 price range. It offers similar AI capabilities but with some limitations compared to the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
