Apple to Stop Selling iPhone SE and iPhone 14 in Europe as USB-C Deadline Looms

Why Are iPhone SE and iPhone 14 Being Discontinued in Europe?

The EU’s landmark regulation mandates that all new smartphones sold in the region must feature USB-C ports for wired charging by December 28, 2024. This directive aims to standardize charging solutions, reduce electronic waste, and enhance convenience for consumers.




The iPhone SE (2022) and iPhone 14 lineup, which still use Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector, don’t meet the new requirements. As a result, Apple has decided to pull these models from its online and retail stores in Europe by the mandated date.

If you’ve been eyeing an iPhone SE or iPhone 14 in Europe, time is running out! What About the iPhone 14 Series?

The iPhone 14 series, including the iPhone 14 Plus, was originally expected to remain available in Europe until the launch of the iPhone 17 in late 2025. However, the USB-C mandate has accelerated their discontinuation, with sales now set to end nearly a year earlier.




Outside Europe, the iPhone 14 and SE will remain available until Apple officially transitions all markets to USB-C.
