Threads, the fast-growing social media app from Meta, is giving users more control over their experience with a new set of features. Here's a breakdown of what's coming:



Cleaning Up Your Feed:

  • Hidden Words: Similar to Instagram, Threads will now automatically filter out offensive words, phrases, and even emojis from your feeds, search results, profiles, and replies. This is a big win for users who want a cleaner and more positive online space.
  • Customizable Filters: Don't like seeing diet culture content? Want to avoid negativity around a certain topic? Threads lets you create your own list of words and phrases to hide, giving you ultimate control over what shows up in your feed.


Taking Charge of Interactions:

  • Muting Post Notifications (Testing): Tired of your phone blowing up with every comment and like? Threads is testing a feature that allows you to mute notifications for individual posts. This is perfect for situations where you know your post will spark a lot of engagement, but you don't want to be constantly bombarded with alerts.
  • Quote Controls (Testing): Threads is also looking into giving users more control over how their posts are shared. Soon, you might be able to choose who can quote your posts and even unquote yourself if you have a change of heart. This adds another layer of privacy and control over how your content is used on the platform.

  • Archiving Posts (Testing): Threads is exploring ways to help users declutter their profiles. A new feature being tested allows you to automatically archive old posts, keeping your profile focused on your most recent updates.
