Google to delete millions of Gmail, Drive, and Photos accounts next month


Starting in December 2023, Google will be deleting millions of Gmail, Drive, and Photos accounts that have been inactive for at least two years. This is part of a new policy update that is aimed at protecting users from security threats. 



Accounts that are at risk of deletion will receive multiple notifications before any action is taken. These notifications will be sent to both the Gmail account and any associated recovery email addresses.




To keep your Google account active, you simply need to log in at least once every two years. This can be done by opening or sending an email, using Google Drive, downloading an app from the Google Play Store, or simply doing a Google Search. 

The new policy does not apply to enterprise or educational accounts.

    I think it is important for users to be aware of this new policy update and to take steps to keep their accounts active. Inactive accounts are often targeted by hackers, so it is important to protect your data by logging in regularly.
    I also think that it is important for Google to be transparent about this policy update and to provide users with multiple notifications before deleting their accounts. This will give users a chance to save their data if they still need it.
    Overall, I think that this new policy update is a positive step for Google and its users. It will help to protect users from security threats and ensure that their data is safe and secure.
