Humane AI Pin: A Promising New Device with Potential Drawbacks

Humane has launched a new wearable device called the AI Pin, which is a $699 lapel pin that uses voice controls to search for information, send texts, and make calls. It also has a laser display that allows you to use your palm as a small screen to see the time, date, and anything nearby.



The AI Pin is not tethered to a smartphone, so it needs its own data plan, which costs $24 per month from T-Mobile.



The AI Pin is powered by a Qualcomm chipset and can translate spoken conversations from Spanish to English in real-time. It can also access AI services through the internet, such as music from Tidal and large language models from Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI.



The AI Pin is an interesting product, but it is unclear whether it will be successful. It is expensive, and it is not clear that it offers enough advantages over a smartphone to justify its price.
