Threads Users Can Now Opt Out of Having Posts Visible on Facebook and Instagram

Meta has rolled out a new toggle that allows users to opt out of having their Threads posts displayed in highlight modules on Facebook and Instagram. This move comes in response to user feedback, who have expressed frustration with the integration of Thread posts across different platforms via the new carousel.



How to Opt Out

To opt-out, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Threads app on your mobile device.
  2. Navigate to the "Privacy" section within the Threads app.
  3. Find the option related to "Suggesting posts on other apps."
  4. Toggle off the switch for Instagram to stop posting suggestions on that platform.
  5. Toggle off the switch for Facebook to cease post suggestions on that platform.


Why Opt Out?

There are a few reasons why you might want to opt out of this feature:

  • You don't want your Threads posts to be seen by your friends and family on Facebook and Instagram.
  • You want to keep your Threads posts separate from your Facebook and Instagram feeds.
  • You are annoyed with the post suggestions.



Meta's Response to User Feedback

Meta has been listening to user feedback and has taken a significant step by introducing a new opt-out option for Thread posts. This is a positive move that will empower users to have greater control over the content they see on their social media platforms.
