TikTok Launches New Feature to Save Songs to Music Streaming Services

TikTok is known for being one of the world's best places to discover both new and cataloged music. Now TikTok is making it even easier to save songs you discover on the app with the launch of its new "Add to Music App" feature.

    

The feature, which is currently rolling out to users in the US and UK, will allow users to save songs to their favorite music streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

To use the feature, simply tap the "Add Song" button next to a track name in a TikTok video. The first time you use the feature, you will be prompted to select your preferred music streaming service

The track will then be saved to a default playlist in your preferred music streaming service, or you can choose to add the track to a new or existing playlist.

The Add to Music App feature is a significant move for TikTok, as it will allow users to more easily discover and save new music. It will also give TikTok a new way to generate revenue, as it could potentially charge music streaming services for access to its user data.

The feature has the potential to properly quantify the effect that TikTok has on music streams, but only if the music industry can get access to those numbers in an accessible and useful way.

The Add to Music App feature is a welcome addition to TikTok, and it is likely to be popular with users.

In addition to the Add to Music App feature, TikTok is also reportedly working on a new music streaming service of its own.

The service, which is rumored to be called TikTok Music, could be launched in the US as early as next year.



TikTok Music would compete with existing music streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

If TikTok Music is successful, it could further cement TikTok's position as a major player in the music industry.




Only time will tell whether TikTok Music will be a success, but the launch of the Add to Music App feature is a clear indication that TikTok is serious about music.
