WhatsApp now lets you hide your location during calls; what it means, how to use and more

WhatsApp has announced a new privacy feature that allows users to hide their location during calls. This feature, called "Protect IP Address in Calls," is currently rolling out to Android and iOS users. 

      
When you make a call on WhatsApp, your IP address is shared with the other party. This IP address can be used to determine your approximate location. The new "Protect IP Address in Calls" feature prevents this by routing your call through WhatsApp's servers. This means that the other party will not be able to see your IP address and therefore will not be able to determine your location.

There are a number of reasons why you might want to hide your location during a WhatsApp call. For example, you might be concerned about your privacy and security. You might also be in a situation where you don't want the other party to know where you are, such as if you're at a sensitive location or if you're trying to avoid someone.      



To use the new "Protect IP Address in Calls" feature, simply go to Settings > Privacy > Advanced and toggle the switch next to "Protect IP Address in Calls." Once enabled, this feature will apply to all of your WhatsApp calls.

An important point to keep in mind is that enabling the "Protect IP Address in Calls" feature can impact your call quality. This is because your call will be routed through WhatsApp's servers, which can add latency.

    I think the new "Protect IP Address in Calls" feature is a welcome addition to WhatsApp. It gives users more control over their privacy and security. It is also a good option for people who are concerned about their location being tracked.
    However, it is important to keep in mind that enabling the feature can impact your call quality. So, if you are making a call where call quality is important, you may want to disable the feature.
